Funding An Outdoor Education Project
The RVOEP is a community-supported project of the UUSD and this means that we receive no direct funding from the school district. Each year the RVOEP Educational Coordinator and Advisory Board put a noteworthy effort into raising the funds to keep the project going and to provide bus transportation to the RVOEP. Please see our list of RVOEP donors and join us in thanking them for their support.
FUND RAISING EFFORTS CONTINUE THIS YEAR. Thanks to the renewed support of our anonymous donor, our teaching position is funded through the 2008-09 school year. The Ukiah Educational Foundation has provided funding for our RVOEP Instructional Assistant for this school year. We are working hard to develop other stable funding sources so that we can continue to provide high-caliber outdoor environmental education programs for our school district and community, but we need help! Bus transportation alone costs about $7,000 each year. If you know of an organization or individual that would like to become a partner in our efforts, please refer them to the RVOEP Educational Coordinator. And, consider making an extra contribution to the RVOEP this year! Buy a series ticket to the WILDLIFE FILM FESTIVAL. See details below.
International Wildlife Film Series Opens February 8
For six consecutive Friday evenings this spring, you will have the opportunity to see some of the best wildlife and ecological films in the world. Films featured in the series are award-winning films from the International Wildlife Film Festival in Missoula, Montana. Hundreds of filmmakers enter their work in this prestigious film festival and we have selected some of the best films to show right here in Ukiah. The series will begin on Friday evening, February 8, 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Civic Center. Series tickets for the entire 6 nights will be available at the Mendocino Book Company for a $50 donation to the RVOEP. Individual tickets are $10.
These extraordinary films are truly a celebration of our earth and its great diversity. Please join us in supporting the RVOEP and enjoying a wonderful community event. Each evening will begin with live music provided by outstanding local musicians. Watch the newspaper for further details. Get your tickets early. Last year many of the films were sold out.
To get to Ukiah Civic Center, take Perkins St. west to North State Street. Turn left, and then right on Seminary Avenue. Proceed to the Civic Center parking lot.
